Updated, finally.

In the chaos of managing full-time, freelance work and a newborn, I've finally been able to get to a long overdue update of my own.

It’s one of those long overdue things that gets you pretty excited to finally get going. I can’t really recall what version of my site this is from the “socrucial” days. I think this is probably version 2.0 of sharv.in. A new sandbox for me to play in, and i’m pretty pleased with it so far. I have a few projects going where I get a chance to try out some new techniques, so it’s nice to finally put them to use on my own corner of the block.

This site is built on the Gumby framework. Gumby has got some big cannons, giving a lot of options for pretty much whatever you’re trying to do. I came across Shane Pendergast’s Base  and tried it out. It worked well as a nice, light solution on a smaller project I was doing.

Clean & Responsive.

That was the goal for this site. I’ve either designed or coded  a handful of  responsive (or adaptive) sites between work and side gigs, but I never got to getting my own site multi-screen-sexy until now. Color can be a crutch at times, so I wanted to push myself  to not rely on any color and establish hierarchy with type and white space. Got to keep building up those typography muscles.

More writing.

There’s a handful of blogs that I frequent of folks in the industry. I keep telling myself I need to write more, and I know I do. Whether some specific topic or random thought, I need to get whats in my head out of “paper”. I probably haven’t written as much since my thesis back in grad school in 2005 (dang, son). So, this version is setup so I can get my words out. Might need to stitch twitter in here too. 140 more characters never hurt.
